Someone contacted me about going to South Colombia. Looking for lost 2003 contacts I came across this poem about Medellín,
"This is a fortified city, surrounded by mountains; upon lifting one’s head and looking around, one sees only the blue mountain line and far away peaks, on the brim of a broken wineglass…and at the bottom of the wine glass the tough enclosed city,”. - José Manuel Arango
Shortly after this time '03, I _gladly_ returned to the Huon Valley - and then had done full circle 5 years later Glen Huon surrounded by mountains and fog feeling so gladly fragile and far away.

So apart from Summer fun I've had my first teaching gig as a Lecturer in
Intro to digital media at Tasmanian School of Art _Spring School.
Was quite a challenge to get ppl away from the screen and to thinking about the tools and how Free and Open Source software provides to artists and designers - beyond just free alternatives to established tools from
Photoshop to Final Cut..
Tried to encourage a lot of them to keep online process journals. And use the Internet ie. whose infrastructure is based on free software and open standards - is an obvious example of such an adaptable, collaborative artistic medium.

Contemporary Art meets linux.conf.au--> This year linux.conf.au is doing something a little different. In keeping with the OSS remix culture, linux.conf.au 2009 is partnering with contemporary artists to mix and remix the complementary ideas of two communities.
"Batteries Not Included" is a participatory contemporary arts project that will combine the arts with linux.conf.au. It is wide in its focus - from the environment to architecture to music (and its copyright) to spirituality to code (under the Artistic licence, of course) - it needs one thing, your input!
CHECK it out HERE and have a divination. This was curated as a part of Kevin Leong's art group at Linux.conf.au LCA2009 -art group.
